Altars have been used for thousands of years in connection with spiritual practices and are usually covered by a cloth or fabric covering. The fabric cloth may be a simple covering or a more elaborately embroidered or sewn design.
Altar cloths may be made using many different types of fabric. Historically, it was cloth sewn with gold or silver, and it consisted of silk or linen fabric. Our altar cloths are sewn with 100% premium linen fabric. We currently offer 2 sizes - small (travel size) and regular and 4 tassels are also included.
This altar cover includes an image of a mandala. A mandala is a Sanskrit word which means 'circle' and mandalas usually consist of geometric shapes and patterns typically in or around a circle. The circle represents the universe, or universal life, and is used as an image in meditation to focus one's mind on the balance and symmetry which creates our world.
To Use: Place the altar cover on your altar, or in your designated sacred room or sacred area, to enhance your spiritual practice and space.
Care Instructions: Spot clean or hand wash with cool water. Hang to dry or place in dryer on medium heat for 15 minutes. Remove and allow cover to continue to air dry. Iron on cotton or linen setting. Use gauze, light fabric, or baking paper when ironing over transferred image.
